| Kathye Begala, CDA shows her original still life, floral, figurative and abstract paintings in oil and acrylic. This long-time and much loved artist has many of her pieces in private and corporate collections all over the world including England, France, Brazil, Australia, Japan and of course the United States. She has exhibited in many venues as well as galleries throughout the United States and Canada. Her artwork has also been featured in many national and international magazines including Painting Magazine, The Decorative Artist and The Decorative Painter to name a few. She has also been juried into many art exhibitions. Kathye has authored 6 books, over 150 pattern packets in the decorative painting industry and has taught her style of painting across the US & Canada for the past 25 years. She has served as Seminar Chair, Treasurer, 1st Vice President and then President of her chapter in Indiana, and Education Chair for the chapter in Traverse City. On the national level she has served on the Teacher Selection Committee for three years, the last one as Chairman. Kathye has also Co-Chaired the yearly Seminar for the Society of Craft Designers. After going to private art classes at the age of nine she was able to paint her heart\\\'s desire. It continued throughout her life until she walked into a local Tole Painting Shop and fell in love with all of the projects hanging in the store. Soon she was teaching classes of her own and went to her first Society of Decorative Painters Convention in Indianapolis where she earned her CDA. (Certified Decorative Artist) Growing up as an artist has given her a style that is all her own. She is accomplished in many areas of fine art from oil, acrylic, and watercolor to pastels and sculpture. And in crafts from beading, sewing, quilting, macrame, paper crafts, and fiber arts, to interior decorating, faux finishing and mural painting. After raising four children in northwest Indiana, she is finding peace and tranquility in northern Michigan with her husband, Steve and having fun with their children and grandchildren who are the joys in her life. She enjoys belonging to Northern Expressions Decorative Artists, Crystal Lake Art Center and The Art Center in Traverse City, along with Society of Decorative Painters and the Craft & Hobby Association.
